Missing Marianne

Longtime RBG volunteer and staff member, Marianne Bue passed away on October 4th, 2014 (age of 68) and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  I met Marianne back in July of 1998 when I started at the gardens.  At that point, Marianne was managing the gift shop and both she and her husband Marv had already been tending their own garden space at RBG as volunteers.  Both Marv and Marianne ultimately became part of the grounds staff for many years.  This blog just shows a few of the many images of Marianne that I took over the years.  Not only was she a great person with an infectious smile, but a darn hard worker.  She was thorough with everything she did whether it was gardening, making signs, organizing our iris collection, helping with plant sales, doing the cutting display for many years, etc.  The list goes on and on.  Most recently, she and Marv came back as volunteers to maintain our moss gardens which have never looked better.  I can't remember ever bothering to check the quality of her work as it was always excellent.  More importantly though, she was modest, giving person and a great friend to so many.  She will be missed and never forgotten.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and RBG certainly benefitted immensely from her involvement at the gardens and support of this special place.
