The Fifth Planting Work Day A Success!

We had another solid work day today and planted everything that we had planned to install. Thanks to the staff help of Big John, Marv, Marianne and Larry and the volunteer help of Rita, Luis, Maureen, Magda, Marv, Ron, Bev, Cathy, Heather, Arnie, Gena, Dennis, Alfredo, Alfredo's son and his friend, Margaret and Maggie. Bill O. was in to help tidy up the wedding sites and gardens in general and also helped us collect our debris at the end of the morning. Dr. Gredler was in briefly to tidy up some lawns and we also saw Dr. Yahr, Hal, Doris, Bob K., Mary W. and many others. It was a very successful day and we had a great pace with the intent of getting out of the gazebo garden (where we were planting) prior to an early wedding (11:30 am). Marv and Marianne played some "catch up" and planted flats in six areas that were left out in various areas from previous planting projects the week prior. Sue and Kelley were also in to plant their portion of the shade garden with annuals and some hostas. To the left is one of the showy mulleins (Verbascum hybrida 'Clementine') with a back drop of variegated Northern sea oats (Chasmanthium latifolium 'River Mist'). To the right is the bright orange blooms of 'Hot Lava' coneflower (Echinacea hybrida). Further below are some shots from today including the knees of Marv and Marianne after some serious planting.

I can't believe I missed two Saturday work days - it feels so weird. I'm totally impressed by how much is getting done! Great staff and great volunteers!
